There is a new kind of attraction in Minato Mirai, Yokohama City (the second largest city in Japan, Tokyo being the number one and is situated next to it) that connects the front of JR Sakuragichō Station and Unga Park, it’s the YOKOHAMA AIR CABIN which was opened on April 22, 2021. It is first in Japan and world’s newest urban-type circular ropeway.
All cabins are barrier-free, where tourists can enjoy the cityscape view above the city. Each cabin is equipped with state-of-the-art functions and technology across a wide range of fields, including ventilation systems by natural circulation of air which is perfect in this time of pandemic where people are anxious about the air they breathe in in enclosed space. It has cooling systems, safety monitoring systems, and lightning performance using full-color LEDs.
The Yokohama Air Cabin operates from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm, one-way ticket is ¥1,000/ round-trip ticket is ¥1,800 for adults (over 12 years old), ¥500/ round-trip is ¥900 for children (3 years old to 11 years old). It’s a 10% discount for a group of 20 people or more and a 50% discount for disabled persons (one adult carer). All the 36 cabins have a capacity of eight persons, so this attraction can accommodate 288 persons each way.
